Launching the Wedding Girl iPhone app to Australia

Your ‘Cindy’s Inspirations’

With over 20 years of experience in the wedding industry I can solve a menu crisis or suggest a centrepiece as second nature because I work with quality suppliers and complex events every day, and that’s why my brides put their trust in me. That’s also why I chose to share my experience, and my contacts, by publishing my first book ‘Cindy’s Inspirations’.

‘Cindy’s Inspirations’ contains pages of images, quotes and tips for planning and designing your wedding, and is presented in a classically styled black and white bound gift book. Brides can also refer to the preferred suppliers pages in the back of my book to help them choose the best wedding suppliers for their big day from a qualified list.

If you’re a bride who doesn’t have a copy of ‘Cindy’s Inspirations’ yet, then contact Cindy’s Classic Gourmet now.

If you’re a preferred supplier listed in ‘Cindy’s Inspirations’ and you want to distribute to book to get your name out there, contact me now.

Wedding Girl Launches into iTunes

In Adelaide, a Monday night in June usually means staying at home and getting cosy with a bowl of curry on the couch. However, Monday 6 June 2011 wasn’t any ordinary Monday, it was the day the Wedding Girl iPhone app launched into iTunes!

I had plenty of reasons to celebrate my app going live, but I especially appreciate all of my guests who braved the chilly, but clear, winter night to celebrate with me. We were of course kept toasty and warm in the opulent surroundings of the BMW showroom on West Terrace, and the Cindy’s Classic Gourmet staff kept the wine and cheese flowing to warm us from the inside too. While no one went home with a BMW, we were expertly looked after by the BMW team, and thank them for letting us turn their newest models into a fleet of Wedding Girl vehicles for the night.

While I’ve been able to leverage my industry experience, entrepreneurial attitude and designer dreams into the most beautiful and functional wedding planning app, I couldn’t have done it without the support of the most forward thinking and equally innovative suppliers, and for those of you who attended our iTunes launch, you know that support doesn’t go unrewarded.

Wedding Girl Supporters Heath & Amanda from Sugar & Spice Cakes, and Darren from Impressions

I also let those who attended in on some of the other wedding planning tools I’ve had in the works, such as the Wedding Girl eMagazine which will be a purpose designed electronic magazine for the iPhone and the iPad and if you’re interested in being a part of our special launch issue, contact me now. And don’t forget that we are still planning our Wedding Girl Christmas Party, so if you haven’t already received a Save the Date card, put Wednesday 7 December 2011 in your diary now and I can’t wait to see you there.

Wedding Girl Team Planning Sessions

Once my Wedding Girl team and I had packed up after the party on Monday we all went out to celebrate at Laxmi’s Indian Restaurant on Glen Osmond Road. The restaurant came highly recommended by one of my team, Oliver, and the sign outside claimed they served the ‘Best Butter Chicken’ and so we were ready to put them to the test.

We did in fact order three serves of the butter chicken (between 10 people) as well as several of the lamb korma, the beef vindaloo, the chicken tikka masala and the traditional lentil daal. Thank goodness we’d also ordered several serves of soothing raita because as Oliver had warned us, the vindaloo was a real vindaloo, and hot, hot hot.

Hot or not each dish was delicious, and the sign out the front certainly hadn’t lied to us about the butter chicken. Being a Monday night we also had the restaurant to ourselves and so were able to chat with the owner Birendra Singh who had his auntie, his brother and his cousins working in the kitchen, using traditional Indian ingredients and methods to put together our delicious meal. My mother is also Indian (you’ll hear more about my background and life before Wedding Girl in my autobiography ‘Whyalla to Weddings’ coming out soon) so I was especially interested in hearing about the family’s and the restaurant’s history and techniques, and Birendra was equally interested in hearing about Wedding Girl because he and his family often cater parties and celebrations hosted at their restaurant or private venues and I thank him for his support of the app.

Of course, my team and I were out to an afterhours dinner, but we couldn’t help continuing to discuss the Wedding Girl app, and plans for the future. We are all so excited to see the Wedding Girl app live, and can’t wait to see what the brides of Australia think, so that coming updates of the app can be made even better.

PR and Media Presence

Wedding Girl iPhone App

Wedding Girl iPhone App

To keep on top of the latest developments in the wedding industry, and the newest features of the iPhone I have a Google alert set up for ‘wedding app’. I’ve been able to watch the news closely to learn more about how my clients use their iPhones and what they want from their wedding planning services.

Can you imagine my excitement when a Google alert came in and I was that news!? Of course my media appearance isn’t surprising considering the work that the gorgeous Michelle from Hughes PR is doing for Wedding Girl.

Michelle has been targeting print and online media with information about the industry launch and the release of the Wedding Girl app. She has already secured coverage in leading magazines and newspapers such as The Advertiser, The Sunday Mail, The Adelaide Magazine and SA Style Magazine. With the launch of the app into iTunes fast approaching, Michelle will continue her campaign to target radio and TV media, wedding publications and associations, magazines, newspapers and online markets Australia-wide.

Being partnered with Hughes PR I think the presence of the Wedding Girl app is in good hands.

Royal Wedding Treatment from the Wedding Girl iPhone App

Cindy’s Classic Gourmet and the Wedding Girl Team want to wish Kate Middleton and Price William the best of luck on their big day! Can you image planning such a publicised event, with a guest list sparkling with stars from around the world? Of course Kate hasn’t had to do all the work herself, her royal wedding planner has been on hand to help with the logistics and details of the special day.

I can’t wait to see how the styles, themes and ideas from this royal wedding influence Australian brides, and I will be watching closely for all those special touches I can bring to my brides in the future. The launch of my Wedding Girl iPhone app into the iTunes store is also just days away, and if your wedding budget doesn’t stretch to a celebrity wedding planner, get the next best thing – a beautiful, chic, savvy and smart wedding planner that fits in the palm of your hand on your iPhone.

Thank You for Your Support at the App Launch

Wedding Girl app launch party

Wedding Girl app launch party

Well the industry launch of my Wedding Girl iPhone app was a week ago and I am still completely overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback we’ve received from the South Australian wedding industry. Plus the launch compere Matt Gilbertson from the Sunday Mail also brought along his official photographer, so keep your eyes on the local papers – we’re famous!

It was great to see so many of you at our pre-launch party, and I think you’ll agree that the grounds of Hage & Harris Financial Services really shone, thanks to the hard work of all of the launch sponsors, including:

Chair Covers Over All

Liebich Limousines

Lush Lighting

Wavals Hire

And of course a big thank you to the team at Hage & Harris for letting us disrupt their offices for a few days.

And what’s a party without a few happy snaps, so thank you to our official launch photographer Helen Roberts Photography and launch videographers New Era Media. I hope you all had a change to be captured by Vintage Photobooths too, here are some of the Wedding Girl team members getting into the spirit.

I also hope you all had a chance to enjoy the gourmet BBQ by Cindy’s Classic Gourmet, and take home a gorgeous Wedding Girl cupcake from Sugar & Spice – I know I enjoyed the delicious sugar hit at the end of the night.

We celebrated well into the night, high on the excitement of this new venture, and the anticipation of taking the Wedding Girl app on the road to spread that excitement across Australia.

If you missed out on this party, don’t worry because Wedding Girl has a number of unique celebrations and networking opportunities planned for the future.

Wedding Girl App Launch Party – More Details Just In

With the launch of the Wedding Girl app fast approaching and the RSVPs rolling in, the Wedding Girl team has been working hard to finalise the event. I am excited to tell you that we will have Sunday Mail columnist Matt Gilbertson as the compere for the evening who is sure to bring a lively and exciting atmosphere to the event.

We will also have Brock Harcourts auctioneer Hamish Mill to lead you in bidding for app listings and limited banner ad positions on the Wedding Girl app, where all proceeds from the auction will go to the Operation Flinders Foundation.

Plus, as part of the live demonstrations by app developers Enabled, there will be a number of iPads and iPhones circulating at the launch, so you can see a demonstration of the Wedding Girl app up close, and check out how your listing will display and how the planning tools will work with the iPhone.

Needless to say I’m getting very excited about the launch party and releasing the app, and I can’t wait for you to see it and tell me what you think!

I hope you’ve RSVPed for the launch party, if not contact me now.

‘Cindy’s Inspirations’ Book

Cindys Inspirations Book

Cindys Inspirations Book

I have worked with John Shepherd from Operation Flinders for many years, he has been my mentor and inspiration, and I even catered his daughter’s wedding. So when I set about about publishing a wedding inspirations book for Adelaide brides, I wanted to find a way to help John with the inspiring work he does, and so I will be donating half the sale price from my books, to the Operation Flinders Foundation.

The ‘Cindy’s Inspirations’ book has been completed and published this month, in time for its launch on 31 March. The book is a collection of images, quotes, advice and of course inspirations for South Australian brides planning their wedding. I have also included a list of preferred SA wedding suppliers in my book so that couples planning their wedding have a proven list of suppliers to turn to, who they know will create the perfect wedding for them.

My book will be distributed through my website, offices and venues, as well as through the listed preferred suppliers. If you want to find out how to buy or distribute copies of ‘Cindy’s Inspirations’ or be a part of the next volume, contact me for more information.

The Wedding Girl iPhone App

Wedding Girl iPhone App

Wedding Girl iPhone App

I have been working on the Wedding Girl app with the help of Adelaide app developers Enabled and the Wedding Girl team has come up with a comprehensive, intuitive and easy to use app, which we think will be of real value to brides, and to the wedding industry.

I work with brides and grooms every week to help them plan their weddings, and what I see them want more than anything else is to feel informed and in control. While all of us in the wedding industry do everything we can to help our couples stay calm and organised, we can’t be with them all the time – when they’re driving from dress shop to dress shop on a Saturday morning, or when they’re trying to ensure their seating arrangements don’t start a family feud.

At the same time, I’ve been working in the wedding industry for over 23 years, and have helped plan and execute hundreds of weddings all over Australia and so, rather than trying to share my knowledge and experience with brides one by one as they sit in my office – why not put all of that information into a free wedding app they can use on their phone wherever they are!?

The result is the Wedding Girl iPhone app with planning tools and advice for brides and direct access to wedding suppliers in their area, including:

  • A pre-wedding checklist and reminders.
  • A post-wedding checklist.
  • A wedding day countdown.
  • The ability to search wedding suppliers by category or region.
  • Detailed supplier listings with direct phone or email contact, plus business news, details, images and 3600 views of venues, boutiques and stores.
  • The option to save favourite suppliers for comparison, add suppliers to an important contacts list, or share details and images from the Wedding Girl app on Facebook or Twitter to seek advice and opinions.
  • Create a guest list, track RSVPs, allocate table numbers and record dietary requirements for each guest.
  • Plus many more features you’ll see in action at the launch.

For the wedding industry, Wedding Girl suppliers will benefit from:

  • Your brides are already using the technology as Australia has the highest per capita use of iPhones in the world and the iPhone was the top selling smartphone product in Australia in 2010.
  • Being listed in a clear, detailed and easily searchable directory for brides on the go.
  • The ability to change and update contact details, listing information and images at any time.
  • The ability to include news and special offers happening in your business.
  • The ability to add video and 3600 views of your business.
  • Boost your exposure through one of the limited banner advertising positions for your state, displayed in a rolling sequence through all supplier listings.
  • To see how your listing would display on the Wedding Girl iPhone app, register for the launch party where you’ll see a live demonstration of the app.

As you can see, we’ve put a lot of effort into developing this wedding app because we believe there is nothing like it in the industry at the moment, and it is the perfect way for young, savvy, busy brides to find the information they need to plan their wedding.
